Fulton Heatherly started Good Hope Contracting with his wife Betty in 1974. At that time, it was just a single axle truck, power box paver, and a small roller. Later on down the road their two sons Darrin Heatherly and Neely Heatherly worked their way up through the ranks. Darrin is now the President and Neely Sr. Vice President over all aspects of the Company; the two took things to a new level. Today nearly 150 employees work at Good Hope Contracting which makes it one of the leading employers in Cullman County. Good Hope Contracting has five Asphalt Plants and six Quality Control Labs which are located across North Alabama and has over 50 trucks on the road supported by three asphalt crews and two milling crews. Good Hope Contracting, working beside the Alabama Department of Transportation, strives to service its communities with the latest technology in paving equipment and services to provide better roads and highways for the people living in North Alabama. Later the family saw a greater need here in Alabama and it was at this time Fulton and Betty decided to expand their operations and started Blount Springs Materials. Blount Springs Materials was founded in 1992 and has grown into 55 employees and five aggregate quarries producing both limestone and sand stone for the public. Both companies are always looking for ways to improve and better their communities.
